McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

I just came from there. You should really think twice. It's nothing but app modernization outsourcing under the covers.
Interesting that people keep saying they came from “IBM” and not “Digital Strategy” like the OP asked.
Same question was asked last week with highly positive feedback from the OP... think they might have been PWC as well and had a very pleasant experience with DSI practitioners.
@PWC1 - Not all app modernization outsourcing.. you’ve been gone too long.
@K1 - DSI doesn’t work with offshore groups. Occasionally if the project is of scale we will bring in someone from a different practice (outsourcing) to handle that stuff, but DSI does not directly outsource, were a design and digital strategy firm.
General consensus right now is projects are 90% digital transformation strategy, requirements gathering, maturity models, capability assessments, chat bots, UI/UX design, etc.
I think right now there’s ~200 people in the practice and we’re growing, fast. Culture is extremely strong in Digital Strategy because it’s so small, it’s has a startup feel, new offices at each location in NYC, and they’re all pretty fire.
Hope that answered a lot of the questions you may have had. Oh... and we pay higher in Both CBD and with 2 years of experience compared to big 4.
Stay away from IBM seems to be the general consensus in consulting
OP - remember if you talk to the people who've left you will get a one sided view
Stay away from IBM man ...pwc is much better on all fronts
Not IBM HR bot, just informed 🤣
Moved from pwc to ibm , was my biggest mistake
It's all IT and managing huge offshore teams, no matter what they call the groups
