Preparing for UPSC, 3-4 years
Salary without corruption? 75k/month
Perks: respect x5
What it demands? Patience, consistency, hardwork, memorise 20+ books, constant motivation

Preparing for top product companies, 6months to 1 year
Salary without ESOPS: 3L/month
Perks: tension free life, respect x1, salary double every 3 years (switch)
What it demands? Consistency, memorise 10 algorithm and design Principles

Think again?

Agree with you all for UPSC.

Also look at success ratio?
250-300 seats for general category, no age relaxation, +high fees of coaching, and lots of books.

+and if OP is really good at studies, & is consistent, can have patience during preparation.. all the very best to him! 🌟

On the other hand,
100s of product companies that pay well - can do side hustles also. Recession is temporary, 2023 will be great again! Technology is going to stay long term. OP is already an engineer - it's easy for him to move ahead with current skills. Also it depends on personal interests. If OP is in service based company or, is facing low quality work, less interesting work, or bad manager, etc, try switching to Better company

Ask yourself why?
* Do you visualise yourself as an IAS officer/IFS ? ( CAN YOU? )
* Is it due to family, friends, gf? or FOMO effect?
* Is it coming from inside? (Inner calling?)
* Seeking lavish lifestyle? Luxury?
* Seeking respect?
* Do you really want it? Can the same long term goal for life can be achieved by any easy alternative? Or current skills?
* Is it really worth the time?

I would also recommend OP to follow 3-6-9 manifestation techniques that was followed by Einstein and Tesla. They used this techniques to attract their success, work for it. Note: visualisation is most important.

Bro people will motivate you here but be practical you should've done it in early 20s now it would be better if you focus on your IT skills and switch-switch to make money, that'd be a better path, atleast you have some hope there.

Just a note. Do write the reason you want to pursue UPSC. Keep it private to yourself if you want but it should be your honest reason. It will work as a booster whenever you'll feel low and trust me you are going to feel low. All the best..

Just completed 26 last month..and same thought keeps coming in my mind but lets give it a try. Its never too late

It's never too late. If you can do without leaving current job, go for it!

Yes, I want to prepare with job only.

Preparing for UPSC can be hectic but definitely doable. It might need lot of time based planning and dedication. I am sure you would have considered the time frame that it might take but when we plan for best, plan for worst as well. If you can manage with work considering WFH it would be great, but if you are planning to quit make sure you have good contacts in your org. And if possible sabbatical would be great option.

Ps: All the best for future endeavours.

Not impossible, difficult but can try. after some time u can decide , to give yr full 200% u can take a break when it’s time

26 is not late at all ….the only thing while preparing for upsc is …how much passionate you are for upsc….you’ll know where you stand in your first attempt itself….

Nothing is impossible bro, don't listen to negative thoughts (just Focus and go for it) but don't get stuck, if it doesn't work-out as planned(reduce your intensity in UPSC) and, upgrade your IT skills and move-out

its pretty much doable. You have tonplan it in better way.

Also you asked this question to a room full of Software Engineers, Consultants, Product Managers who have been in IT industry for whole their life.

You should also ask the same in the UPSC forums too?

Today is my 23rd birthday and I had very few people say happy birthday today. I was still in daily contact with my ex (I know a mistake) and he snapped me but did not send me happy birthday (we were together 3yrs ). So I finally blocked him on everything for the first time. (I should’ve done it a long time ago for other reasons) With the pandemic and everything else going on I’m feeling hopeless and alone. 😓 is there anything to be happy about right now?

I feel like I'm at my wits end. I teach self-contained classes and according to the ISBE website my classes shouldn't be more than 8 students unless I have an aide - then it can be 10. I have no aide and most of my classes are around 14 kids. Some with behavior plans that are only out of our behavior room setting for my class... Is anybody else out there going through illegal class sizes for self-contained? How are you dealing? Maybe a vent session is in order.

Hi All,
I am feeling lost in job. So I’ve applied for Accounts payable they offered 40k. I said why not to gain some experience. I didn’t even bother negotiating which I regret.
Fast forward I noticed that I was eventually handed everyone’s workload (AR & imports & duty and check coworker work + AP) Spoke to them about pay increase based on workload. So they raised it to 55k.. but I still feel underpaid based on the amt of work I do. I don’t know what my title or what to put on resume..

I applied for a job and received an offer from my client. 15k+ bump in salary, better benefits/remote work, and responsibilities will give me exposure to all areas of the organization (start up). The problem is that they’re looking to staff me as a Senior when I’m currently a Manager at DT. They said they’re flexible on title, but curious to hear how others have navigated similar situations. I would report directly to the controller and have 1-2 staff reporting to me...

Hi sales engineers, I’m currently a cloud security engineer with a cybersecurity background. I am pretty recent graduate and am passionate about sales engineering but have struggled to get my foot in the door in this field. Seems like every job out there is like 5+ years experience. Any advice for how to get in this field with little experience?

I have a VC/GE interview coming up (phone screen) and personally don’t know much about the space , it’s just an area that has always seemed interesting.

Does anyone have Recommendations on how to get up to speed/good questions to ask during the phone screen?

I would assume the first call will be pretty standard to any other company, but just want to be prepared.

But the thing is our minds work with numbers. I see SDE roles at MAANG or other companies offer higher packages. I feel like I should aim for more in life if people can get paid more at this experience or age.

I need other people's opinions on this.
