What will be the in-hand salary

Hello fishes, need some guidance on the following questions - How is cognizant doing currently? Is it safe to join cognizant? How about the attrition rate, any improvement? How about job security? Do they layoff? Looking for some serious suggestions. I have a loan on me, and my package is low. And IBM doesn't give any hike. So was looking to switch. But afraid after hearing about current situation of cognizant. I am thinking several times before coming to a conclusion. 🙂 @Cognizant

That’s basically the poverty line. You might starve
Dang, I do eat quite a bit
Dayum. I'm a SM and couldn't get anywhere near that when I was actively looking. Nicely done--feel free to share your secrets
I threw a big number out from the beginning and they bit. I was very surprised.
Need at least double that
Noted. I’ll counter with $540k
$270k is probably considered the top tier in terms of salary outside CXOs of large companies in biotech / Qualcomm type of companies in SD. You can probably buy a house in a neighborhood with good schools like Poway, Carmel Valley, etc. You will need your wife's income to look into more ritzy areas along the coast like Del Mar.
Stay way you’re at. California sucks
You will love very handsomely in SD. Buy real estate. Which industry is your offer in?
Fair concern. The good thing is that you’re close enough to LA where you can easily apply in LA worst case scenario (only like a 90 minute drive if you hit no traffic - could be 3 hours otherwise). SD is a great place and an excellent quality of life. Depending on your lifestyle and commitments/dependents, you can very easily live off that base salary along. Check out numbeo for CoL calculators. Feel free to DM me if you have any more direct questions
That’s Santee money. Start clipping coupons.
I heard Santee is nice this time of year
OP that’s enough for SD, granted you’re not trying to live in the ritzy neighborhoods. COL is lower there than in LA or SF
Thanks SC1. Totally unfamiliar with San Diego.
Mind sharing your career trajectory a little bit? Your current job, salary, your new position, new total comp?
I lived in SF for 10-years. $270K for base is a solid offer especially for a tier 2 city like San Diego!
u should build a fort
That’s it?
Wtf kinda absurd question is this? Your wife also works so youre asking if being in the top 1% is decent for any city, let alone one that is not even in the highest COL tier.
Well agree to disagree. Congratulations on the great offer and big life pivot.
I second BCG1; do share!
