Anyone from EYP…I’m applying to “Strategy & Transactions Working Capital Consultant/Senior”. I have the experience, six sigma, PMP etc stated in the description. How can I proactively position myself to earn the interview? I’m afraid I might get auto rejected because I have way more than 2 years experience, but I know industry experience is weighted different. Appreciate any help, insight, or anyone willing to chat. I interviewed there 3 times (they kept reaching out to me). Everytime I found the people off-putting.
One interviewer was just aggressive and asked me for the thesis behind a Google acquisition, proceeded to tell me my thesis made no sense, and I find out after the call that it was Google's exact thesis. That doesnt mean it makes sense but wtf..
It’s amazons way of testing if you can “push back”. I went through a similar experience with their hiring process. No, thanks.
I strongly feel like Amazon is a place like any other with politics and bureaucracy. But the one thing that helps it stand out is that if you put in the work, you get what you deserve. If you find a great manager, it can be the best place to work.
I’ve heard it depends on the team. Know plenty of people who found a good role and love it. Definitely a very different corporate culture than Google though.
I interviewed once and declined a second interview. There was something creepy about the whole process
The recruiter talked about politics as small talk. One of the interviews seemed intent on testing whether or not I already knew their internal processes, as if the way they did things was so obviously the right way that everyone would do it that way.
I kept it to business, in one case offering some ideas about how the politics might impact the company and talking about ways to streamline what was already being done leveraging new technology - maybe that was what the interview was about?
They are very full of themselves.
Also those 12 or so guiding principles that you have to memorize? Most big firms have those but amazon was the only firm where the recruiter explicitly told me to memorize those
