Is anyone else stuck paying out of pocket to do their job? I spend about $250 a month on conference travel meals, software, and small supplies because reimbursements take forever. My salary is $101K and this keeps eating into it. Is this normal or a sign something is off?

I can’t imagine having to pay out of pocket to do my job. Are you in academia?

like

No
I do not pay out of pocket for my work supplies
I always seek reimbursement or request a company card

Maybe they have figured it into the salary compensation? But I would try to get the reimbursements if possible

Scenario: US visa expired in 2021. Applied for a Canadian tourist visa to hopefully go for H-1B stamping in Canada once they open appointments.
Biometrics completed. Haven’t received any comm regarding my tourist visa approval. My partner already revived the visa long ago even if we allied together. Could it be because my US visa has expired? The reason I gave for applying for visitor visa was just for tourism purposes.

currently tossing up between staying at a global company (who is in the process of some positive changes) with an amazing manager who supports my career and flexible working … however comes with the inherit issues that come with a long standing global company

compared with a role at a smaller mga, higher salary (around 30%) more , more visibility career wise and some great employee benefits , management seem to be supportive and low staff turnover

Can anyone give me their honest opinion on working at Eli Lilly, the Indy site? I have a few coworkers that have worked there in the past but no one recently. I’m currently being recruited pretty seriously for a in-vivo technician position in the auto-immune team, but I already have a job lined up at Envigo as a small animal sx tech. Salaries would be comparable (Lilly would most likely be a little more with bonuses), but if the culture sucks, I’d hate to burn a bridge with Envigo.
