Is anyone else’s job not hiring replacements when employees leave? I work at a large company. We’ve lost 4 Coordinators and they’ve replaced none of them. I’m doing the work of all of them myself because I’m the only Coordinator left. The workload is insane. Anyone else going through the same thing?

Yes, I’m pretty sure my organization loves it when someone quits because it means they don’t have to lay people off so we get the money, saving benefits of losing an employee without any of the bad press or guilt and we just re-distribute the workload so they half of us are working ourselves to death. I would also love to abandon ship, but I know the job market and economy are not great right now so I’m probably stuck for a bit

Yes, we've had things like that happen. But from what I can determine, it's not an official or a definite policy. It's more like the word from above is to just slow-walk everything. I've heard of other companies doing hiring freezes, but I think we're just going to stick with moving at glacier speed until all the economic uncertainty gets resolved. Of course, for the people who have to pick up the slack, it's not a good situation.

I am not a very shallow person — he was already on the heavier side when we met. But when I look at photos from just a year ago, it’s clear he’s put on a lot of weight. I am worried about his health. I don’t want to overstep or make him feel insecure. Just wondering if anyone else has ever been here.

Additional Posts in Human Resources

First time posting here! I have been tasked with creating a military leave differential pay policy and was curious if anyone would be willing to provide any resources. Thanks!

I have been on a planned personal sabbatical this year pursuing personal interests. Now I’m ready to go back to work. I will have next week the second interview with an exec recruiter for a company for a Director level position reporting to the COO of the company. In addition to having relevant experience and accomplishments handy, I would appreciate any pointers for having a good interview at this level.

Every company I’ve ever worked for has no money ever for anything, we are 2 years behind COLA raises and forget merit increases. Am I just in the wrong industries? I’m currently in Higher Ed… I wanna work in HR with a budget to pay people and provide quality benefits! What’s your experience like? Am I dreaming? What industry “has money”?

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. If Amazon or any other FAANG/large co gets back to me, is there an acceptable way to not burn bridges with new job and accept or delay start date with FAANG? Or fuck it just hop?

Is this legal? My spouses company just decided to change their comp structure for account managers. It was base + comm, now it’s commission only but nothing changed, OT commission is the same, didn’t get more points, just took away the base pay and said work harder basically. So now they have to worker harder to get $50k they were already making. (Not a decision based on employee performance, they’ve been crushing it. I think the company is just trying to save money they overspent else where)

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working as a contract TAS for 6 months in a medical device company. I started part time and as it became busier/my trainer quit, I became full-time. I applied for the TA position through corporate and would like some insight. the company is short staffed and my site specifically does not have good TA retention. For the salary expectation, I put in 85k which is in the range. I’m currently at 64k which is below the minimum of the range. Is this realistic?

like

I am looking to make a career change to HR. I currently make 75K as a sales and development coach. I had a recent offer for a state government position in a talent acquisition role but I’d be taking a $25K pay cut. I am extremely over qualified for the position but it could possibly be a stepping stone and gives me the time to acquire SHRM certifications and possibly start taking classes to get my MBA. My question is those currently in an HR role, would this move make sense to you?
