Is burnout becoming the default career filter in law? It feels like more people aren’t leaving roles for better opportunities, they’re leaving because they’re exhausted. Burnout seems to be driving more career decisions than ambition lately. I know people don’t talk about burnout in interviews but are you seeing burnout as a major reason people move now or am I too pessimistic…

Unfortunately workers are the ones who face burnout those like myself can’t pace themselves as I was forced to work 7 days a week with promises of bonuses that never materialized. Keep family and work balanced and never allow a job to burn you out. Too many good employers out here - take your skills elsewhere

Yes

This may be an outlier view, but I think the term burnout is overused, and it has become one of those things where people thinking about it tend to see it everywhere. I don't doubt that people get themselves into a state of overwork, and the stress can affect them mentally and physically. Yet part of being professional is being able to pace oneself and handle stressful times when they are upon us.

Interesting perspective but thanks for sharing

Yes!! Very much so!! It’s an exhausting profession when the firm doesn’t care about their employees.

I think you're too pessimistic or you're spending too much time online. People change jobs for a myriad of reasons, not just because of burnout. For example, I changed jobs 7 months ago for career growth.

Good for you

My company covers in depth results each week, including meetings set/attended, wins, revenue, retention etc. I feel as if evaluating in such depth is detrimental to the psyche, as you never get to “ride the high.” In addition, some weeks are simply slower than others, and it’s not always representative of what the results at the end of the period or quarter will be. Is this not a big deal, and I’m I placing too much importance on it? Or is it beneficial to review results less frequently?

Hi everyone! First time posting here. I am in a good sales role at my current company but it’s my first solid AE role in the tech industry. I am interested in exploring other opportunities as I know there are a lot out there, but is anyone else worried about the current economic state? I’m worried that if I find a new position for a new company and the economy going to sh** that I am worried about job security. Anyone else feel this way?

Some companies give hike according to certain percentage. Nw from my previous Company's Ctc was very less. So if i am getting an 40% hike based on my previous CTC it's still less then my expected CTC and it II be difficult for me to survive and relocate in metro cities. Can anybody guide me regarding this.

Thoughts on long-term (5-30 years) fate of the market for consulting in London? I’m considering a move from outside UK but some have argued that London market is “just a fight over the increasingly diminishing pie”, despite the temporary uptick in consulting work now to deal with corona& Brexit. Perhaps I should hit Asia or US.

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer?
