Yeah it's disgusting but par for the course, unfortunately! Nonprofit academic healthcare should be the standard, and if not we need universal healthcare ASAP. Not going to hold my breath, though.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. People's lives hang in the balance when we allow capitalists to control healthcare. It's dangerous. So many other countries have decent universal healthcare. People argue it wouldn't be great, but America's healthcare seems to be slowly swirling the drain. Universal healthcare couldn't be worse than what we have, could it?

This is so sad

I know, it's heartbreaking. These are the issues you hear about in third-world countries, and America's wealthy are going to continue driving us in that direction if we don't do anything about it.

Being courted by a recruiter for a senior product designer role. I made it very clear that remote work was non-negotiable in the initial phone screening.

They want to proceed with a video interview but it’s “recommended to join the team in office occasionally and work on-site in the beginning and go from there.”

I politely withdrew and they said the VP reconsidered because it’s been difficult to get people in the office - so I would be fully remote.

Proceed or 🚩run away?

Personally I practice out patient ortho in Rochester, NY making $65,000 annually with a good benefit package. 6 years of exp. And not entirely sure how much more I could make in home care/other settings.
