Hello Gang, I’m on the business side for Walmart right now. Walmart Global Tech recently offered me a role to move to the San Bruno office, but I’d be taking a demotion from L6 to E5. YOE: 8, COMP(200k base, 25% bonus, 100k RSU). Is this competitive in the bay? I have Doordash and Instacart in the pipeline, but no final offers yet.

Lol, DFW is LCOL. Lubbock is VLCOL
Ehh in reality I think the US is best approximated by four tiers
Tier 1: NYC, Bay Area, Boston, LA, DC 💀
Tier 2: Chicago, Miami, Austin, Seattle, San Diego, etc.
Tier 3: Dallas, Houston, Charlotte, Atlanta (maybe it’s Tier 2), Tampa, Phoenix, etc.
Tier 4: Idk Lubbock I guess
So label them as you wish
I'd put Seattle in tier 1 and then SF and NYC in tier 0 lol.
MCOL, Lubbock is LCOL
10 years ago would have said LCOL. Cost has risen much faster than national average. It is MCOL now, but still among the cheapest large cities
Dallas is LCOL at PwC. Tier 3 is the the lowest tier and Dallas is Tier 3 in terms of pay.
Labor not living…
DC & SF are absolutely not in same tier
All I know is that it isn’t HCOL 🤪
