Is it common to receive no severance if your agency has given a month working notice?

I have been at OLIVER for a year and a half and our client is leaving - and I've been given a formal months "working notice" meaning I won't get any severance because I've been given a months notice - yet I have to still work 40 hours a week. In Canada.

Would it be worth seeing a lawyer?

I'm a PA in the PNW working for a private group staffing ED's in several hospitals. Recently the group has asked the PA's to take on a couple new roles (triaging and rapid track from triage i.e. straightforward ESI 4, 5). With these changes the PA's are considering asking for increased pay in the form of an addition of a COLA (cost of living adjustment) to our normal salary. Was wondering if any other PA's in the ED have these in their contracts and at what rate.
