How dumb are you if you think people reach manager in 4.5 years
Easier... yes. You need time to develop some management skills to be attractive to industry
@Pwc4 I couldn't agree more..I made manager after 2 years with another guy who was a senior for 5 years..today I was told I had to take on a few more of his clients bc the guy just can't handle it..so dos the extra time really help him?!! No #rantOver
Typical is 4-6 years to manager and it's pretty easy to get a outside manager level job. Coming from ITS though, I have found the biggest skill I am missing is FAS 109, which is highly valued in industry.
Not as a first year. Big4 rushes your career & calls people manager before they are ready. Industry manager title is usually closer to 6 years than 4.5.
Actually some offices it is 4. I never trust anyone as a manager that has less than 5 years though.
If you start in Jan & get promoted in August on schedule, that's only 4.5 years.
Plenty of people in ITS and M&A (tax) make manager in 4 or 5 years. Nearly everyone actually . Idk how the market is for other skill sets, but the market is pretty hot right now for tax.
I mean "making manager" isn't real at Big 4. All it means is you can assign work and fight over schedules. There is blame internally, but nobody outside public accounting is going to hire you to supervise a team of 10-20 people with 4.5-5 years experience.
There are folks who made manager in 2.5 in my department who are better than those who have been manager for 4 years...just depends on the person.
This must be a different service line. There aren't 2 year managers in tax.
