yep i felt the same way for 2 years nothing was happing gave it a 3-month brake made new resume and new cvs for everything really game me a fresh mind set
They say they’re hiring, you apply get an interview & then nothing!
Did you send a brief follow up 'thank you' note to your interviewer? This will frequently separate you from other applicants. It may be less common today but it will always give an interviewer reason to remember you and your interest in the position that you are applying for. Is it a 100% guarantee of being hired? No. But, when the time comes and you are eligible to really, you could be remembered and score on your second try.
Walmart hires just about anyone. I didn't make it through orientation. Bait and switch with both position and pay rate. In short if an employer is going to be crappy to you before you start working for them how are they going to be after you start?
Rising Star
We always have a requisition open for entry level positions but only pull applications from the pool when needed so it looks like we are always hiring.
I think you have hit it on the head. That's what I've found, too. At age 72, places are looking for entry level candidates to work for peanuts, are willing to deal with continued turnover(newbies are always looking for somethng better) and pass over us experienced folks. Heavens, we could even "pass away" while on the job! LMAO
You should be 72 and looking for a job! Living off of Social Security is not easy, but at least there is that coming in. I've decided that "everybody is hiring", but nobody is. Having said that, places continue to say they are hiring to invite people to apply, and they continue to review resumes, looking for "the best" of potential candidates for the future. Check the turnover rate at some of those places, and figure out why they have such a turnover rate. My wife made a good suggestion, too. Online applications sent in are fine, but sometimes just "stopping in" and following up in person, or making a phone call can prove to be the best option. Today's online stuff gets ignored anymore as common as it has become...
That’s it? I’ve applied to a little over 600 places in 4 months. I have a bachelors degree….
More than 600 applications and nothing at all? With a BA/BS? Not buying it. If this is true, it's time for a professional review of your methods.
Yeah! I've put 78 applications in in the last 4 weeks and hardly anything
I agree, I’ve applied to over 40 places and I’ve gotten rejected or ghosted by everyone it seems like…
Same! Ive been emailing and they ask me to come in person then ghost me for what time
I’ve been applying for a year and seven months, and I still haven’t gotten anything yet.
4mo for me no bites.
2 years lol only just got a job ffs :(
I have a great resume and work history and I'm not even getting interviews. I also think a certain job board is a hoax unless you are paying for their premium service. That's the only time I've ever gotten an interview on their posting. I currently am working but I'm looking for a little more money.
Employers are being overly picky & hospitality employers are saying they struggle getting staff yet i hear the same thing over and over from people applying for crazy amounts of jobs but never hear anything back from employers for interviews. Its very disheartening for people ...its like they want to ott experience but pay minimum wage
This is a direct result of mass imigration - it has litterly flooded the job pool, especially in areas like hospitality
STOP USING THOSE APPS!! if you see a job one those apps you need to go to there website to apply. INDEED, ZIP, ETC ... are AI run. AI reviews your resume and most likely rejects it.
You are fishing for a job, too many job applications within 2 months. Don't do fishing You will never get hired as some companies places jobs ads with a same company, The hirer will know that you are 'fishing', You will never get hired. Read what the hirer want for a new applicant and pinpoint jobs that do not require much work experience, best not more then 3 different jobs positions, your resume plays apart as well, should also state salary is negotiable, never state how much you want, The resume must be corrected if your past jobs experience don't meet the new hirer expectations.
I tell everyone inquiring at my store to apply, then follow up with a call after they apply so I can schedule an interview. 98% of those calling get jobs. My philosophy is- if you want a job, you will call about the status of the application. I see 30- 75 apps the first 3 days my reqs are open. 90% of those applications- the contact info is wrong on so I can call or email to set interviews up. Most of the people in my reqs, for sales associates, are applying for dss or unemployment purposes, not to really find a job. Another thing I find is that most corporations don't want to hire full-time employees. Our payroll budgets leave us about 4 hrs a week to hire new staff, and not many adults can live on less than 100 a week.
I heard something today where many of the companies are all using a third party AI to sort through applicants, the issue is they AI is collective so if you're applying for another job and they spat you out (using that program), you stay in their system as not a great candidate for something like 154 days- it's supposed to clear it out per company, but doesn't seem to do that most of the time. It's probably screwing with many people who are qualified because there's flaw in the program. I've seen some instances where people have emailed directly explaining they've been rejected multiple times and are qualified and have gotten positive responses resulting in an interview. Just a heads up!
I have over 14 years retail experience, 6 of those store manager level. I have been looking for a new jobs for a long time. I seem to get turned down for the most basic jobs (part time, not management) any tips to help me with this? I've applied to far too many places also...
Exactly! This has been my experience for many job board platforms for over 6 months now. They know they need people they know their understaffed or missing associates that are crucial to making their business a smoother or more appealing to the up but they're freaking out because they don't really want to have to pay anybody else or deal with anybody else like as in talking to you working things out schedule wise training any of that it's a very weird world right now
same so many applications in and a couple interviews and still nothing. even if they say immediately hiring
seems like a lot of places just have job listings open *just in case* someone leaves rather than like... ACTUALLY needing people NOW. At least that is what it looks like for Starbucks, the sheer amount of applications ive sent to them and getting radio silence until they have to refresh their listings.
