I gave 4 rounds of interview for Manager 1 but the final decision was that I am unable to raise the bar. The recruitment coordinator asked me if he can keep my details or share my details to his colleagues so that they can check if I fit in some other role in future. Any idea about the cool off period?Amazon

Welcome to Job hunting 2025. Other service we offer are robotic rejections and ghosting. If there is anything else we can do to help, rest assured we won't do it.
Facts
Yeah, it's pretty demoralizing. I have seen it from the inside as well.. At my last position, we had an opening for 6 months.. Everytime and applicant was pushed through, suddenly the position need was removed by HR or Payroll. That applicant just disappears. Then within 10 days, the job is reposted. I found out a lot of times this is done because there is an internal employee that is being prepared or pressured to apply for the position.. If they can't make it past the requirements, or can't get a department release from their director, they are disqualified..
The truth is they were just pushing the workload onto the rest of the team, and had no intention of filing the position. The further truth is that once we past the performance appraisal phase, they just removed the position completely.
Large companies have no incentive to hire.. only to cut cost by cutting Employee's.. They can outsource other companies to handle the workload, and not have to deal with the cost of employees on the bottom line.
If they pay a 3rd party to cover the work, it stops being their problem, they can strongarm the 3rd party company with failure to meet deadlines, obligations, or the unrealistic KPI goals they set.. Then they can renegotiate the contract or claw back payment..
Customer service or the clients are of little regard it seems. Almost like they have accepted that they have reached market saturation and the only way to keep making money is through asset acquisition and cutting expenses. They are becoming nothing more than venture capitalist pecking at the dying body of their own firm...
It's sad and not sustainable, but as long as customers accept it as the cost of doing business it will not change..
There is a company that has been reposting the same job for years. I apply out of spite. I have all of the qualifications that they describe.
From what a financial analyst said, it's a numbers game. It looks like they are hiring when in fact they are not.
Consider the possibility that they aren’t actually trying to fill positions. It may be in the company’s interest that these roles be filled but is it in the interests of the people handling the recruiting? Suppose, for example, that the recruiter is a third party. For as long as the search continues, they get paid, so their interest is in searching, endlessly, not finding, which ends the gravy-train.
Who pays a recruiter to search? For the very reason you're stating, every recruiter I've ever dealt with gets paid if and only if their candidate is hired.
I have been rejected from my exact job multiple times in multiple companies citing better aligned candidates only to see it reposted some months later
The job market in tech is nothing short of criminal these days lol
Pure fact.
Here’s another take. I’ve been in professional software development for almost 30 years and spent the last 21 years in the embedded space. I see lots of jobs listed for months and months. I believe they are actually having a hard time filling them. Whenever I apply to a position I always get a response fairly quick regardless of whether it goes any where. You have to understand that people are desperately applying to all jobs including many they are just not qualified for and hence the rejection/ghosting.
And yes, it’s all soul crushing. Hang in there.
I just keep seeing the same jobs over and over. You see the same ones n all the platforms (Glass door, LinkedIn)
It is creating an illusion that there are tons of jobs out there, when there really aren't.
It's because these jobs don't actually exist. Companies are posting jobs so they can collect resumes, if for some extremely slim chance they stumble across the perfect candidate, they respond to them only to have unrealistic expectations and a wildly low total compensation package
This is not new. Companies do this all the time - specifically in last 10 years because platforms like LI has removed the cost of posting jobs. These are not real open positions - the company simply want to appear to be hiring (i.e. growing).
Very disengenious.
Getting this in email frequently. "urgenly hiring" followed by a job description identical to one received 6 or more months ago.
There's no jobs. Or there's one job for 1000 applicants across the country or globe.
If a job that used to be an on-site job becomes hybrid or remote, imagine the number of applications it suddenly generates - that is a part of the problem - the way we now have the ability to work contributes, but I agree the companies need to do a better job of notifications in general
An HR rep told my daughter that companies are posting more job positions than they actually have because it qualifies them for tax incentives and makes them look like they are growing when they really aren't.
This has been going on for a long time
It's simple. They are reposting the job because the more recent the job is, the higher it gets ranked in search results. They are looking for a unicorn candidate (aka purple squirrel). There is not a true urgency to hire, as they know the employment market is tilted in their favor right now.
This response makes the most sense to me. I find it bizarre (and somewhat dispiriting) when I apply for a job that I think I am well qualified for, they sit on the application for a couple of weeks, say they are moving on with other candidates, and then... the job is reposted? They apparently can't find what they're looking for, but they don't think it's even worth interviewing me??
I can only assume there is no urgency to the requirement, and it may in fact be a generic requirement, in other words "they are always looking for candidates with x". What they really mean is that they are _only_ looking for _perfect_ candidates with x. If you're close then they'll keep your CV on file and maybe they'll call you back in a year for a different job, but don't get your hopes up.
What I find particularly time-wasting about the process is that there are presumably some requirements which, if you don't have, then don't bother even applying because you'll get automatically rejected, but they frequently don't clearly state what those mandatory requirements are. I think it's partly a CV harvesting exercise. They would never consider you for that particular role because you don't have the mandatory requirement, but if they don't explicitly state it's a mandatory requirement then you will send your CV in, and now it's on file if they ever need you in the future.
It's essentially data theft and a gigantic waste of everyone's time, but I'm not sure what you're supposed to do about it. I guess don't take it personally and move onto the next application.
They created this problem themselves, and their 'solutions' (leetcode screenings) are literally screening out the qualified people.
Yes, but it's been going on for almost two years now :(. So it's not new unfortunately..
oh wow sounds fun.. im just getting into this career field, it sounds like i should just take what I can get then?
yea im going to probably just go back to the Army and do what I can there won't be as free but atleast it'll be a stable income 😅
Yes… all these companies are not looking to hire people. I have seen job ads being reposted for almost a year. I really doubt they can’t find the “perfect fit” after so much time. My best bet is that recruiters and hiring managers want to show they are busy doing something. At the same time, companies are faking they are hiring to show to employees that they don’t want them to burn out and leave. 2025 has been literally a circus with tons of layoffs and so on.

I believe that they haven’t found The Perfect Fit. The perfect fit has ten years of experience in technologies that have existed for only five years, works all the hours God sends for minimum wage, never makes mistakes, never needs to research or think, never has personal needs, has the same temperament, cadence, and schedule as the boss, and so on and so forth. You get the idea. Someone analogized dating, and it’s a good analogy. Part of the problem in each is that seekers have a jumbled mess of half-baked ideas of what they want, many of them ignorant, some of them contradictory, and those seekers aren’t willing to accept anything short of a perfection that doesn’t and probably can’t exist.
I agree. You're not imagining it. There’s definitely a pattern here, and it’s sparking frustration across the board. The reposting of job listings on platforms like LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and Indeed has become so common that entire threads and articles have been devoted to dissecting it. It looks like a big conspiracy.
I’ve noticed companies are re-naming the positions too, and I’m like “okay lol, it’s the same job I saw last week”…
