Is it normal for your direct managers not to say a word or at least offer an acknowledgment of your work and contributions thus far when you're getting let go? I can't believe how drab my send-off was. And what's most shocking is that my manager hired me. How does he have nothing to say? It's just not what you expect after spending 7 years in a company and dedicating so much of yourself to it. My world is shaken.

I have an offer for a company abroad. Originally they wanted me to fly out and start the day after Thanksgiving (not celebrated in their country), but because of the holidays I suggested starting in either December or January with the ability to take some holiday days in December to fly back home for Christmas. I left my job about a year ago to relocate, make sure it was the right decision and start a side business in the mean time. Now I’m actively looking for a new sales position, have tons of experience, but am struggling to even get a response from job apps. I am wondering if this is because of my employment gap? I don’t have my side business listed on my resume because I don’t feel like I have enough positive “stats” to report yet given it’s new. Any advice or recommendations?

My company blames my generation for not being able to hire everyday. “You guys don’t want to work” coming from some overweight, racist, old coaster. I’ve barely taken any days off this year and pick up “skeleton crew” days any chance I get. I was able to work out a deal with my company before I came because of prior experience luckily, but they offer a terrible base salary and sham of a commission structure to new hires + no remote. Older companies do whatever they can to pay you the least amount and get the max work out of you. I was interviewed for a major tech player in the hospitality industry, had 2 interviews which for the first one the recruiter was late, and didn't confirm the interview while I emaild her to make sure I do have an interview. When she attended she said that there was no point of responding my email as we are meeting anyway. Later on I had 2nd interview with the hiring manager. After 45 minutes she said they will let me know...

2 months later and I am still waiting...

Just finished my degree in managerial science and have a minor in marketing and a Sales certificate. Have had 4 different management jobs. Just accepted an opportunity as a district manager for an Insurance company. Not 100% sure about Commission-based only. Would love to manage in the sales world, and would love to travel on a weekly basis. Any advice or am I aiming for something unrealistic at the moment?
