Do what feels right for you everyone is different but certainly sounds like you are overloaded.
It’s also a matter of when can you get those hours in? For me I’d rather have my weekends and so I work super early before the little is awake (6-8) to get my catch up in as needed. For you weekends might be the solve.
It’s not normal to work like that (well it depends on the company you are with). I was working like you and with kids and a husband and knew that 12 hour days were ridiculous. I told my boss I couldn’t do it anymore and they just laughed and said we all are working that many hours. So I quit the big ad agency and am working normal hours in a smaller company with better pay and no headaches.
It’s normal.
I’ve been having a really rough time feeling overwhelmed lately, and I think it’s less about the actual work and more about the very real constraints on my time that non-parents don’t have. No one should work 12 hours a day, every day, but I CAN’T work 12 hours a day, every day, because there are small people who depend on me to literally keep them alive. My feeling overwhelmed has come when I get to 3 or 4pm and realize - I have to log off in 2 hours and there’s no way today’s list will get done before then.
So, yup. Logged a good 5-6 hours today just so I don’t start the week totally behind and back overwhelmed by 10am Monday.
