Is it reasonable to ask for three weeks before joining a new company? I was thinking a two week notice and a week vacation to take a breath. What do you think ?

Absolutely, just tell the new company you have a month notice period and then take your time off.

Absolutely, it's reasonable! I've done it between my three different companies I've been at. It's nice to have that "extra vacation" time between to decompress from one gig to the next.

Considering a move to NTT Data in a healthcare consulting role. Mixed reviews in the bowls. Major concerns are bench policy, staff aug roles, 2 week PTO, and high turnover due to job dissatisfaction. Recruiter and mgr had great things to say around growth and opportunity, which doesn’t align with feedback from the bowls or Glassdoor.
Understanding things have changed there in the last few months, I need un-biased advice from fellow fish who have recently joined or can speak to recent changes

How much should I charge a friend to watch 4 dogs at their home over Christmas weekend (2 nights)? The dogs don't have any special needs or medications. I've dog sat for other people in the past but always for free. I also have had dogs of my own for most of my life. I want to start charging people for my services but also want to be reasonable since this is a friend and don't plan to charge a holiday fee. We live in St. Louis. Would $40 per day/night be reasonable?

As a trans I struggled during this time of the year. My obligation to discuss how hedonist this whole Valentine’s Day is and how it celebrates disproportionately cisgender relationships without ANY regard of that impact on the non cis or transitioning or RE transitioning people. It’s important the feelings of those who are not sure of their gender status into consideration when planning group activity. Especially for students who have not decided to reveal..

Forks are literally just bad spoons. There is no conceivable world where I’d pick forks over spoons. Spoons can do everything forks can and forks can do nothing spoons can. Even the hybrid spork shows this clear advantage where forks are made to be more like spoons. Like … ok there’s spaghetti big deal I’ll just scoop it up with my spoon. Steak? Oh no I have to scoop up the steak with my spoon. Try eating soup with a fork. Exactly.

Are there women here that have a significantly larger income than their male partner/ spouse? My husband used to make a little more money 10 years ago when we first met (when we were both making under 60k). Then I started climbing a fast track career ladder and now make a total comp of close to 300k and he is still under 80k... (which is totally fine with me btw). But I have noticed that this has caused a lot of serious issues for our relationship. any advice?

Additional Posts in Remote Onboarding Support Group

Hey I have worked in the truck industry for a while now with heavy haul and regular haul experience. Just thought I’d see what kind of jobs I can get remotely. I originally was going to go to school for special effects and animation with computers. I have extensive knowledge with computers. Is there any good sites I can visit with jobs hiring remotely with good starting pay?

Truth be told I have never been through onboarding via remote. It’s a bit of a struggle. It’s taking forever to get access to certain resources and my assigned mentor is always underwater. How is everyone dealing with this? My manager seems hard to please in our first couple 1:1s.

Left PA and started industry remotely. Haven’t been in the office. Met my team one time. Tips are to always be on video for even the smallest of calls. Take a ridiculous amount of notes. In downtime, go through your notes and come up with questions by reperforming old work. Set up recurring question sessions with your team so you know what to do next time. Set up performance meetings even monthly because it’s hard to get a gauge on your performance

Should one add their personal technology that are currently used for remote work on their resume? Seems most companies will provide the hardware and software needed. However, it’s unclear if the employer will provide this through Teamviewer/VPN connection or will send an actual computer.
