Leave it as if u did not get it and move on to other opportunities. It’s probably that the organisation is going through uncertain time like many organisations are currently facing. If they need still need u, they will circle back to you which would give you higher hand in negotiations. Ultimatum will only do more damage and it isn’t needed.

Yeah I’ll probably just let it go for now...just sucks because it was the ideal exit and I need to leave
I think that wouldn’t be a good company to work for. But if you’re truly desperate, ask to hear a final answer by X date as you are considering other opportunities

Yeah that’s what I’ve kinda fallen into...which sucks but I can’t keep waiting around. They get back to me whenever I email for a follow up but I guess I’ll just have to keep applying and see.
OP I can relate. Have been waiting to hear back from a job after completing final round interviews and submitting info for reference checks. It's fustrating and I find myself constantly checking my email, stressed during weekends and anxious throughout the week. I understand things are tougher now due to the pandemic but the slow pace right now can be hard to deal with from the candidate end.
I usually try and follow up with the company at the end of the week as I've built a decent relationship with the HR contact but there have still been delays.
Want you to know that I understand what you are going through. And I am unemployed, so makes things even more difficult. I wish you all the best and truly hope you get the job!

Hey at least you got reference checks and that stuff done. I’m just at the “we really like you and this in no way reflects how we feel, I just need to talk hiring timeline with the hiring manager” stage, which isn’t 100% acceptance. Like HR was so communicative before and now I have to reach out in order to get an update. I’ve been following up every Monday after they tell me I’ll hear by X date (since they usually say I’ll get an update towards eow) and I was debating doing so today but now idk based on the advice given if it’s even worth it...
I hope that since you’ve gotten the paperwork part through, they’ll hurry up the process. Wish you best of luck as well 💫

I basically want to reach out with the underlying message being “I know you’re busy with everything going on but do I have the job or not?”. I know people who have been dragged along in similar situations only for the position to ultimately go with an internal hire or cancelled altogether (due to covid or other reasons).
I just need closure and don’t want to end every week feeling bad that I haven’t heard the feeling anxious every Monday hoping they’ll follow up from the previous week. I’m not interviewing with other companies (I’m applying, just not getting interviews), the company is apparently stable with plenty of reserves and liquidity, and the role is a perfect fit. This is a super small internal strategy team so they’re handling a majority of the covid impacted work, which is great time to bring me on for extra hands but I also am seeing the slow/potentially unorganized pace of industry. So if I have the job, great, I’m willing to wait to start but if I don’t, I need them to cut me loose.
Not saying it’s the best approach, but I did that recently and forced the company’s hand to give me a decision earlier than they would have otherwise

Gotcha yeah you could definitely leverage that response then. I am unfortunately not even interviewing with anyone else, so I can’t use a response like that.
Only give an ultimatum if you're okay with them rescinding the offer, as that is a possible outcome. If you truly have other offers on the table or another valid reason why you can't wait any longer, then by all means tell them.
If it's just a matter of not wanting to wait any longer, then I suggest just going about your life as if you haven't gotten the job. Continue to apply for other jobs. Continue to interview. If you get the offer, great! If not, you haven't lost any time and if it does come to that, the blow will be lessened as you will be in various stages of the application/interview process with other companies.
And please keep in mind that not every company can move quickly on the interview process. Some have a ton of rules and red tape to get through. And I'm sure COVID-19 hasn't made things any better.
Chin up and good luck OP!
