Location of the business isn’t important for me. Most jobs let you work in your time zone anyway. YOUR location is important to the employer for tax reasons. I’ve notice most remote jobs are listing the states they allow employees to work from. I live in NJ and I always get asked in the interview if I plan to move to NY because they don’t hire anyone from NY due to the cost to the company.

Great perspective! I wonder what the business would have thought if you responded anywhere but New York.
I definitely think that location does matter and some employers while remote, still want you to be working in the area. I have seen where they will say the role is remote but you have to live within a certain number of miles from the office because they do occasionally require you to come into the office.

Even prior to Covid, my area would rather allow an employee to move to another state over losing the employee. We have coworkers in 10 other states right now. A people manager actually lives in FL!
