Gosh that sounds rough!! It is case dependent for sure but typically 60 hours with little to no weekend work. Typically looks like 12-13 hours Mon to Thu and 8hours on Friday. Of course sometimes it is 65-70 hours if the timeline is tight but I have never had anywhere close to the 90-100 hour weeks that I hear are very common in banking.
Eating lunch while working, not including dinner
Bain north America probably averages 55-60 a week in general practice. More like 60-65 in PEG. Almost never any weekend work in either case!
Come to BCG, life is better. DM me - former IB associate
Yep - didn’t want PE or Corp dev roles and moved geos too
Still grinding away at 3:39am. I'm at a top BB (GS /MS /JPM). Whenever I work this late, I put Eminem on and work to the rhythm of his music. 🥃
55-65, 5 days a week
Why not buy side OP? Do that for 2 years and then do whatever you want
Best of luck in whatever path you take! Buy-side might be worth considering pure comp wise as a path
Hi OP and PE1, how bad is PE hours? Also, comp-wise(post-MBA level), is it better than MBB?
We legit never have to work weekends on the Associate/Consultant level.
Mbb def much better hours than that by in large. North America does at least
what firm are you currently at?
I was on a VDD (probably the worst project from sustainability perspective) previously and hours got pretty bad during the week 9a-3a for a couple of weeks, BUT that meant I could 95% disconnect from work (i.e. check my email).
If you want better hours, do non-DD / corporate work
I think splitting the co-op fees makes sense
