Can easily make it from Audit. I’d try your hand that way.
If not - yes, it’s better from AAS equivalents because if you’re on a transaction for accounting advisory you become a top tier candidate.
Went from Aud -> FAAS -> FDD -> I&D myself
Different work different knowledge. The FAAS work (if you’re on a xLOS engagement on a transaction) with NEBs/TSAs carries over well.
Workload is less sprint-y but still a sprint. Let’s talk in terms of track euphemism.
FAAS —> 1600m
FDD -> 100m
I&D -> 400m
Still a sprint, but can’t sprint the whole way 😂
Try to break into FDD. Otherwise, you’ll get tagged as a technical accountant for a while.
But moving into AAS is likely your 3rd best option to eventually break into FDD. Valuations would be #2 and even then that’s not necessarily easy
No, I'd just apply from audit. Beyond accounting, the most important skill in fdd is excel, which you use more in audit than accounting advisory.
You can transition straight into FDD. FDD is always looking for high performing people from audit
Honestly AAS is not a relevant skillset for FDD. I would rather hire someone from audit. Writing technical accounting memos is not really a super transferable skillset……
That’s very far from all AAS is at least where I’m at

Thanks for the responses everyone, that’s what I thought as well. Recruiters trying to sell me on accounting advisory with an option to move into FDD down the line
They tell you this because they want that $$$
