Is right after bonus season the best time to job hunt?
I’ve heard a lot of people say that the market loosens up right after bonuses are paid — more candidates start moving, and more roles quietly open up. Do you see that, is post-bonus season actually a strategic window to switch jobs, or just a myth?

The time to start job hunting is the middle/end of 4Q so you can switch once your bonus is paid out. If you wait until your bonus pays you wont move until 2Q

That is true but it seems that more roles will open up after bonus paid out

Are people really saying that after bonus season is the best time to job hunt? I think the job market is tough overall right now. It seems more likely that people wait until their bonus hits their bank account before looking elsewhere—not because it’s the best time, but because they have nothing to lose by making a move.

Totally agree

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Should I hold out for the offer or is 1+ week a sign that I won’t be selected?

Next week I’m having my first lateral interview as a junior associate. I’m very nervous because the group with whom I’m interviewing works with life science/tech clients and the attorneys have strong science/tech backgrounds; and I do not. However, I am very, very interested in transitioning to this practice. And I reaaally want this job because it’s at my dream firm. How would you recommend preparing for the lateral interview?

Hi, been stuck in the contract analysis/review cycle. I have asked a few recruiters how to make a lateral move into in-house. They told me to focus on contract management, which I have been doing for the past year. Now that I have, are there any sites besides “jobscan” that I can use to make sure my resume fits the job descriptions? Does anybody know any recruiters that could help me, as well?
