EYP->McK here.
Drastically better over here. Work is a little more intense, but learning has been much faster, quality of people has been much higher, and exit ops (based on my recruiting emails) are so much better. Not to mention comp progression if you decide to stay
Bain will open doors that are hard to even visualize before working at an MBB firm. At starting I’m not sure the salary range will be hugely different, but the potential to grow quickly is much higher.
Bain has an incredible brand name and you’ll get to have that for the rest of your career.
Totally agree on general brand and how that sticks with you long term
Are we sure on exits? I understand LEK and EYP Strat division as comparable, and have heard from LEK>Bain laterals that while promo is marginally faster and better pay, the exits are nearly identical
I always thought the only major exit from MBB that T2s can’t get is top buyside exits (frankly from LEK there are tons, just mostly in MM and I assume EYP is similar)
Still think the EYP to Bain move is worth it assuming not penalizing too many years, but just curious if others think exits are really that much better?
Rising Star
It’ll help to have EYP AND Bain when it comes to exit opps. Is it significant? Depends on the opinion of the hiring manager for the next job you’re looking to exit to. Better safe than sorry
Go for it! The amount of recruiters that will contact you literally just because you work at an MBB firm is insane.
I came from Deloitte Strategy and the difference in terms of exit opps is not even close
How did your process from Deloitte Strategy to McKinsey look like?
What advice would you have for someone who’s looking to move from a Deloitte Strategy/ACN Strategy to MBB?
Yes much better but EYP is still a great firm
