I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? What do you think of Billions last night?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
Any fish still awake and working? 😀

Thought about it at one point, but decided it wasn't worth the time or effort. Government folks love it, as they do all certifications, but it doesn't really say anything about what you've accomplished on the job. You may find more value in it though...
When I was in DC and working in the federal space, I had an inflated view of the PMP by virtue of the proportion of managers, etc. I saw with one. Not nearly as common in commercial work, though, so if that's your ultimate destination the certification may not be worth it
Spot on Houston...independent contractors for sure. It's serves some measure of quality control that can cover a recruiter's ass if things go south
They pay for it and will give you more ops for leadership positions. Can't hurt if you want to make the jump to anything else in a couple years.
Right, and my client at the moment is the government which is where my leadership's thought process was. I don't want to jump into it unless I know it yields returns elsewhere though.. :-/
Thank you, this is very helpful!
I'm primarily in the defense space and my background prior to this was in the international development world. Long term in not sure I'll venture into the commercial sector, but I want to know what advanced degree/certs are valuable, if at all.
I figure... Why not squander the opportunity if the firm pays for it? Just want to know its going to go somewhere in the long run. And I think for the interim period in which I support my current DOD client I may as well just take it
Houston-- are your BAH contacts based in Houston?
Hi fellow Boozer. That's what I wanted to hear (candidly) that I wasn't getting.
Massive waste of time. No one outside of Booz knows/cares about the PMO. Brutal honestly IMO
