I think the range is wide. Our expected utilization across the year is ~90% and when we are on projects, esp the first few weeks, it's mad. I'll wait for other responses too but I will say that I know we have the reputation for working hard and it's not really justified IMHO. Yes sometimes the hours are long but the work is so freaking interesting the time flies by.
AP1- recruiter mentioned to me that a bunch of work-life balance initiatives were just rolled out. I didn’t want to ask about it, but any idea what these were?
It's all relative. How many hours do you do now? I average 50-60hrs.
Like 60ish. That doesn’t sound terrible. Is that the mean at your company?
Thanks A
thanks AP1. I think the wlb issue has to due with the fact that you have Monday-Friday Travel or so the hr person told me. Is that actually accurate?
There will be some clients that require it. I've only ever done M-F on client site for local projects. All my others have been M-Th, and almost all projects I've heard about are M-Th. The M-F description is just there to set your expectations that they may be cases you're 100%.
Oh and if you're on an international project, it doesn't make sense to fly back home every week.
Most are M-Th but some local projects may be M-F as A1 said. Everyone I know is flying M-Th though. The practice is booming. Hours can very project to project like anywhere.
OP I forgot to reply to your question about WLB initiatives! Short answer is I don't know what theyre terming as "WLB initiatives". The company wants to double in size in 7 years so there are a lot of things happening initiative and policy wise to set the org up for success.
One possible example under the WLB umbrella (broadly): they used to pay us for overtime (I know, it's crazy) and to many people's disappointment, they stopped it last year. It's not a good incentive for encouraging WLB so I understand the move, even if the money was nice.
Thanks AP1.
