Is there a way to get exposure practicing transactional and corporate law? I don’t seem to be able to land a job with my mere one year judicial clerkship. The job postings seem to have unrealistic expectations.

What year are you? What is unrealistic about the postings?

A lot of people got experience in law school during internships or right out of law school at firms, so you’re competing with people who started out with a target background. I clerked in my state’s Tax Court and then went into a corporate (but specialized regulatory and transactional) role. So you’re competing with people with direct experience.

Those aren’t entry level roles, that’s why. They’re not meant for you. You need to network and cold contact firms/lawyers to see if they’re taking juniors. This should’ve been done during your clerkship - I had two offers for post-clerkship by December of my clerkship term right after being admitted to the bar.

Anyone find a routine to get into good shape before the big day??

Need help settling a debate with my friend. She thinks I will have an easier time getting research grants because I'm male. I think it's the opposite because companies are trying to change the status quo and get more women involved (which I'm not complaining about... please don't attack me.) Which one of us is more right than the other? I'm interested in getting as many viewpoints as possible, whether or not they agree with me or with her. Thanks!!!

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?

Hi, been stuck in the contract analysis/review cycle. I have asked a few recruiters how to make a lateral move into in-house. They told me to focus on contract management, which I have been doing for the past year. Now that I have, are there any sites besides “jobscan” that I can use to make sure my resume fits the job descriptions? Does anybody know any recruiters that could help me, as well?

Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer?
