all firms have AP just that D doesn’t advertise it as AP but as P; but internally they are AP. Director isn’t the same as AP at EY
Director is a new role at EY in consulting. It’s meant to be SM > D and stay there, as opposed to SM > AP > P.
Re promotion path: It’s so new that’s it tough to say. But for majority, the answer is no.
Yes
There is an AP role at EY in Canada

I have seen Associate Partner titles at EY Canada. I see the jump from SM>AP>P. I believe it depends on practice area. At D, some areas go directly from SM>Income Partner. So I would assume AP is more or less the same as Director.

More or so as Income Partner at D. EY partners are all equity.
What are Associate Directors at EY? I have seen a couple in Austin office.
US titles are different than other countries. US doesn’t have associate partners. Instead, it’s Partner (equity) or Managing Director (no equity). Usually SMs are promoted to either P or MD. That’s for client serving. For non-client servers, the top position is Director, which is roughly equivalent to a Managing Director on the client serving side. Assistant Directors and Associate Directors are the non-client serving equivalent of Managers and Senior Managers.
