Yes. Better work life balance, changing careers to something with better longterm prospects, less responsibility, etc.
I would take a pay cut to work from home. Easily. I'm hybrid, but my three days in the office are awful. I would take a significant pay cut to be completely completely WFH.
If you spent time in a job/career/industry that takes a toll on your well-being, mental and physical, then I'd say it's worth it to take a pay cut when you transition into something better for you.
I took a paycut when I was switching careers. I knew in the short term, I would make less, but in the long term it would benefit me. I was right, thank God. Sometimes you have to take a step back to move ahead in life.
Peace of mind. Never underestimate peace of mind!!
^^^ 100% this!!
I took a pretty large pay cut for my current position. I went from a sales role in office 5 long days per week, with 90 minutes of commuting daily, to permanent WFH in a back office capacity. It was worth it for me for several reasons but my mental health is at the top of that list. I do not have stress, I have a much better work life balance and am so much happier. Would I like to earn more? Yes. But I don't want to go back to sales or in office, so although I'm looking, I will be very particular about taking a new role.
I took a 10k pay cut to leave a toxic manager and move department. The best decision I’ve ever made! The peace of mind, freedom and the feeling of being appreciated and respected is priceless. It took me a year or two to make up for the pay cut.
Sometimes, a job with a lower salary but flexible hours, less stress, or the perks of working from home (hello, pajamas all day!) can be worth its weight in gold. Ditching the soul crushing commute and reclaiming your personal time can do wonders for your overall well being, even if it means a smaller bank account.
It depends on your current situation. I would not because I feel like I’m barely making it on my current salary. No opportunity would be worth the added financial stress.
