It feels impossible to stand out, and the number of talented professionals is only increasing. What actually makes a mid‑level candidate stand out when everyone’s portfolio looks polished? Is it the work itself, the brands, or how they talk about their role in it?

For me it’s how they talk about the work. Lots of people have pretty decks; I remember the ones who can clearly explain the brief, their role, the strategy, and what changed because of the idea. The brands help, but thoughtful case‑study storytelling is what really feels “mid‑level.”

For midlevel I think side projects / exploring your craft is a big plus I think people that are eager to work their skill set and learn it’s a huge!

I'm nearing the end of an interview for process for a job I'm meh on and recently began the process for my dream job. I'm slightly underqualified for the dream job but it's at a startup in a category I'm extremely passionate for. Should I let them know I'm nearing the end at another place?

Have an offer from a dream company but I'll need to go in at a lower level. Knowing that I can bring a lot of value to the company (read- I know my worth), I negotiated with the hiring manager to have a level/comp review 6 months after employment. If I hit all my goals (ie, prove myself) within that time frame, I'll get a promotion and salary adjustment.
QUESTIONS:
Should this be in writing in the offer letter?
How detailed should it be? I assume I won't know what goals to set till I start...
