Hello, I have an offer from Publicis Sapient for their product management internship program. Wondering if anyone has any insight into the program (exits, etc) and how the return offer looks like in terms of salary. I still also hold an interest in data science so might go with another offer but I’m not sure if it is a wise choice to let go of a PM offer while I have it.
Increasingly difficult to hold on to both....

I disagree. Problem solving, interpersonal skills are what the interview process should gauge for analysts. Excel and PPT can be learned in time. Pretty much anyone can be competent in those within a few weeks
Imagine: studying for 4 years at a reputable university, learning critical thinking techniques and building your skill set, just to be told by a PowerPoint jockey that your “skills” aren’t good enough to progress though the interview process.
Posts like this make your firm look very shortsighted. And this is coming from someone who instinctively hates how much we coddle campus hires.
OP: Aren't good consultants created through good apprenticeship? Through whatever luck of the draw you now have this analyst and identified a large gap in expected skill. Congratulations, you are now obligated to try fixing it. You figure out how to train and coach this guy. You are -- in part -- accountable for the "when and where".
Walking^
I literally used the words OP used.
And called them a dick, but that's for expecting new analysts to be excel and ppt wizards instead of coaching them along the way like the default response should be.
Can everyone stop throwing rocks at OP, we barely know any specifics. I think he gets the public opinion by now.
When I was an analyst I wanted someone to show me what executive level presentations and analysis looked like and that's it. Here's the tool, here's the expectation, you figure out the rest. That level of self sufficiency should be expected of all analysts
Op has repented; leave her alone.
I don’t think this went how OP expected it to. That being said +1 for taking it in stride
This is literally the only time I've read a post where @OP accepted feedback and said "you know what, you're right"... and also the only post where another commenter said "you know what, I take back what I said".... we've turned a corner guys. @OP mad props to you. You know how everyone is looking for that chance to get ahead and be a top performer? @OP here's your window, made that analyst the best damn slide maker known to man. And everyone will know it was because of your support.
Teachable where and when though? I'm at a client site and the analyst just froze, I'm not tying to set someone up for failure
P4 please don’t trash the entire industry for being excel and ppt only just because OP probably only knows these two skills. Thanks!

I still can't build a good slide but my team rocks at putting my vision on decks! But I've also always been up front about sucking at PPT 🤷🏼♀️
OP, good on you for taking blunt feedback in stride. Honestly, I wish the best to you and your analyst! Minor point tho, you don't need to have a dick to be a dick, but it's clear from your response that both aren't true. My bad for being harsh!
It’s comforting to see that there’s a lot of people not shitting on the analyst......unless everyone replying is an analyst......lol....
OP shitting on others for not knowing but doesn’t know how to coach. Lmao. I hate the managers at ACN.
Analysts are like a box of chocolates... that said you shouldn't have to "teach" anyone how to use google and YouTube. They taught me how to build / modify my 3D printer and I literally have no programming or hardware ability.
Wouldn't want to be on a project with you. Avoid from miles away
I used to suck at both when I started 2 years back. Still not an expert but have learned tons. MS Office skills should definitely not be an interviewing criteria; they can be easily learned.
They don't know what they don't know. They probably put "proficient at Excel and Powerpoint" on their resume because by college levels that means knowing how to open the program. They have no idea how consultants use it. And no one I know looks at someone's resume as a gauge for anything once they're hired.
