No. Agencies are just understaffing to cut costs
I don’t think it’s AI, I think more places are combining the art director/designer role into one position.

It’s def not ai. Wish that narrative would stop. It’s just bad out there period.

Inflation —-> belt tightening
For mission critical tasks, AI is not practical yet. It will be. In the next ten years it’s gonna change everything. But right now it’s basically a toddler that can’t walk on its own.

I think for now AI has more chances to affect writers than AD actually.
Illustrators on the other hand are having a tough time. Specially concept and storyboard artists.
CD1 you’re just kinda shit at using chat gpt tbh…
It’s not AI. There have been several consolidations and reorganizations earlier in the year that have a trickle down effect. There’re an awful lot of ADs looking for work right now. Agencies trim positions toward the second half of the year so that the numbers look better as they approach year end. There’s also a lot of hesitation in spending in an election year. This means there’re are less opportunities for all those ADs. It’s not hopeless though. It just takes a lot more perseverance and patience.

You should work on your prompts.
It’s hard for creative roles all around, 25 years; designer here and it’s been 8 months and still looking..
Year and a half..
election years are always rough on the economy, stock market, and jobs - january & february things should pick back up 🤞🏼
It’s not a craft that is respected anymore. They keep combining it with other skill sets like animator, developer, editor. So it’s become a bit obsolete. I’m done with art direction. I became an illustrator and painter full time. Follow the art. It won’t let you down. Advertising only let me down.
No it’s cause they’re getting Creative Directors for designer rates. Stay strong .
Inflation and an election year seem most likely to me.
The AI tsunami is coming, but not here yet. Don't sleep on companies automating in other ways like Canva templates: I heard of one big company that axed half their in-house team because they had enough templates and AI that they weren't needed.
Remote workers and cheap global shops (e.g. on-demand design in the Phillipines for a monthly fee) means you're competing with EVERYBODY for work.
Recruiters are flooding the market with phantom job posts and applicants are shotgunning applications at everything: no human can handle the information overload.
