Everybody keeps saying it's a lousy job market because it is. It seems like we're in a situation where people are worried about the economic situation getting a lot worse. Once the tariffs and other policies kick in, every business will be trying to cut costs. So they're not too eager to do any hiring now.
I totally get the frustration. It can feel like the more experience you have, the harder it gets to land a job, especially in industries where you're overqualified. Sometimes companies see that as a red flag, thinking you might not stick around. Keep pushing forward though, you WILL find the right fit eventually!
Most employers want FOH to be young college kids and would rather hire them than get someone that’s qualified/over qualified and mature. Most of these interviews are just screening people out because I’ve seen it done. Applications are in two piles. I’m sure one is rejection and the other new hire. I’m not a young college kid and rather they didn’t ask you come for an interview in professional attire to get rejected.
