I’ve been practicing for 8 years, mostly in mid-size firms, and I can’t shake the idea of going solo. On one hand, the thought of building my own book and setting my own hours feels liberating. On the other, I’ve gotten used to a steady paycheck and health insurance. I’ve got about $40k saved, a small potential client base, and a niche practice area that could translate well independently. How do you know if you’re ready to bet on yourself?

What firm resources do you use? How expensive will it be or how much time will it take for you to take on that work?

What’s your practice area?

One rule of thumb is to save a year to a year and a half of what you will need at the time you start.

Besides the $40k, what other resources do you have? How thoroughly have you worked out a budget for a solo practice? Will you need an office? How are you going to find clients? Do you have enough credit and other resources to survive while you get the ball rolling? Do you have a working spouse to help bridge personal finance crises during the transition?

Hello fam! Hope you’ll are enjoying your Sunday!

I faked my resume I mean my contracting firm did and I didn’t have choice and I got the job. Now my client wants to offer me a full time position. I kind of feel like they trust me with the work I’m doing and also considering my past experiences to offer me a full time and moreover it’s only been 3 months.

I know it’s a little unusual but what do you guys think/suggest me to do in this situation?!

I love my WFH in PwC India & base location of Kolkata. & the best thing is stability in PwC India, they never lay off!!

Now I'm worried whether i will get a project once I join here or will I get kicked out in 30 days if not.

This is the first time I'm switching companies so I'm really worried about how life will be if I take the risk and join here.
