I've been really struggling to find a new job as a web dev, I have a masters degree in cyber security that I just got last year and have about 6 years in web dev (full time work). How can I switch over to cyber security?

Hopefully they aren’t getting confused by how you bury the lede. Start off saying you want cybersecurity, as indicated by the count of commenters who think you want web development

losing interviews like this usually means one of 3 things: the resume isnt matching the JD keywords, the formatting is getting mangled by ATS, or the top bullets just arent showing impact fast enough.

i had a friend in LA with a solid background get basically nothing back until we stripped out a weird two-column layout and rewrote the first 6 bullets around the exact terms in the posting. the difference was annoyingly immediate.

if you’re open to it, compare your resume against 2-3 roles you actually want, not just one generic version. that’s where the mismatch usually shows up. i’ve seen people use ResumeJudge, Jobscan, or SkillSyncer just to spot the missing keywords and formatting issues before sending anything out.

also worth checking if your portfolio link is doing the heavy lifting or accidentally hiding the best part of your work. for tech/entertainment, a clean recruiter-friendly first page and a very obvious “what i did / tools used / outcome” section can matter more than people think. what kind of roles are you targeting exactly, like producer-ish, product, or front-end / design?

I'm trying to find a good way to find out about work culture at different companies during interviews.

I'm conscious that most interviewers will be politically correct and provide a generic answer, but I still ask them "why did you choose xxx, and why do you stay at xxx?"

Besides Glassdoor reviews and actually asking directly during the interview. Are there anything else that you use to assess?

Hi everyone, a question to the tech industry at large.

Why are people so hesitant to hire disabled candidates?

Quick question.
I was a contractor for a big company and they just let me know that my last day is December 30th. I got this position thanks to a recruiting company that has been great and gives me benefits.
Should I:
- Continue working with the recruiting company, hoping that they will find another position for me? (as they told me they will, and when they applied me I started working with my current company within 2 weeks)
- Work with the recruiter + apply for jobs on my own?
