I’ve been searching for an internal transfer for a year. Applied to a few external things and landed an offer that means a double promotion and a 30% salary jump. Within days of reaching terms with the new company, four separate opportunities opened up here. I know EY won’t match on compensation or rank and I can’t walk away from a 30% raise with 529s to fund, but I’m really going to miss my current practice. Why couldn’t the internal offers have happened two months ago??

Nice bowl to avoid lowering the average in the US-centric threads. Anybody else finding that with the lack of pay rises this year, it’s become even harder to benchmark? Had a few recruiters recently suggesting I’d get 25% more by moving to a competitor but no telling whether that’s a short term-gain for a longer term hit.

1) when is the annual appraisal cycle, when we will get the hike letter? Approx hike %

I joined a new consulting firm and have been here for 6 months. Recently, a SaaS client (1k employees) that hired my old consulting firm reached out to me about a job opening - Lead BA working primarily to implement their benefit admin system for insurance companies. My current TC is 95k. Is it worth making the jump if the offer is north of 110k? Anything I should look out for? The client and coworkers were all nice, but I remember being stressed on the project due to limited resources.

Has anyone used exit opportunities to get early promotions within consulting? For example if I’m 1 year away from promotion at D, could I apply for a role that’s a level up at another firm? Is this something that’s doable and happens often? How does one pull this off? Will you be forced to stay in that next level for longer at your new firm?

Growing up was rough. On my 8th birthday my dad had an accident that led to this death a few days later. He was a good man who took care of us all (I had 3 siblings now 2; lost 1 few years ago). I'm in a good place in life right now I only find myself in the last 5years shedding a tear once a while when I'm alone. It startles me because I was a tough kid who didn't cry and just soaked it all in and rolled with it. I'm almost 40 and can't explain what's happening with these tears.

So physically and mentally tired, I don't know how long I can keep up with work anymore. Told my senior management that I'm burning out, only to be blessed with another secondment. I now have two going at the same time, plus other client work, new business work, and managing scroundels.

My parents got divorced 6 years ago and my dad kinda gave up on life. His American dream was to graduate with an actuary degree (which he did 2 years ago) and find a corporate job but it never happened...He gave up on life to a point that has no food and is behind rent because he doesn't want to get a $15 an hour job or a maintenance/painting job. She is so worried about people picking on her and not having friends. I feel like I should be able to do more than encourage her but I know some battles she had to fight on her own.
