I'd say probably 80% of my applications result in no response at all, so you're doing something better than me in terms of visibility.
Don’t apply on Indeed or anything other than the company website. If it’s like our hiring site the data doesn’t transfer well with external sites and it’s more work for the hiring manager to review your application. You’ll get more traction searching on indeed and applying through the company directly.
Work with a recruiter. I got laid off and applied to sooooo many jobs and got rejected for all of them. The recruiter got me a couple of interviews and got a job offer right away and for the pay I wanted
How do you get in contact with a recruiter? Is it for a specific company or a general recruiter. Thanks
It’s very hard hang in there. I was so fortunate that I found a job after 2 months. I got ghosted so many times and had several first interviews before I found a company that is a fit for me and that I feel I can thrive in. It is hard on the psyche to be rejected so many times. Taylor your resume for each posting using as many key words in the job description as you can. Almost everyone uses ATC to do the first screening. Also, only put the last 15 years experience on your resume. Take dates for graduation etc. don’t talk about the age of your kids in the interview keep it professional personal.
Agree with my colleague on this one. A recruiter can likely help here.
You may also want to reach out to people within your personal/professional network to see if their companies are hiring and potentially recommend you for a role.
I can definitely identify with you. My situation seems to be a mirror of yours.
Use AI to help rewrite your resume. Use “key words “ from the job description. Good luck!
Indeed. Number one salesman out of 200 and simultaneous number one team captain who brought us from number 5 to number one! However, God wants you and me in a certain role. I am stunned at what I’ve learned in this process of jobhunting as a 71-year-old champion! I hear a song coming on: you can’t keep a good man down… I am willing to work on God‘s time.… just as they tell me, I have told some: “it’s just not a good fit. Good luck on finding some other candidate. “
They definitely full of it
Most of the job sights are bs....you have to know someone...I get the same thing
The same thing is happening to me! 2 years ago, I had companies contacting me, and now I can’t even get a response for an interview. Super frustrating!!
Honestly I can understand your emotions. Keep in mind I don't even get rejection emails. They just don't call me. I work in customer service
Try redoing your cv take out anything that shows your age (graduation dates, etc.)
I totally hear you. But just don't give up when you least expect it something will drop in your lap. Patience and perseverance are great qualities that we all must have.
Can take 6 to 12 months to find something that matches. Degrees and certificates aren't as meaningful anymore after 20 years of experience. Comes down to what outcomes you can provide the new employer and how fast you can come up to speed without very much training.
Never give up ever you got this 👍
Being able to support yourself in this life is a necessity! So having an income(job) is the only way to do that, but how is that so hard to come by? It doesn’t make sense. Companies want so much specific experience, but I am sure everyone has transferable skills. Just because someone has direct experience, doesn’t mean they are more likely to work harder or be inclined to do the job effectively, versus someone that can be trained to use their experiences, to be relevant to the position at hand. I find this world to get harder everyday.
