Flat fee from the agency. You’re good.
In my experience, it’s a % of the employee’s salary, charged to the agency that is hiring them. Others charge a flat fee, but again, to the agency. Idk how that may affect what an agency is willing to pay out, but I never noticed it on my end (outside of speculation).
A % that the agency pay - up to 20%. And you can be fairly sure some of that’ll be coming off what they might have paid you if you’d gone direct
In my experience I’d say, try to make your way in through existing contacts who can refer you. If it comes down to you and another real strong candidate that the agency found organically, the other candidate has leverage bc the agency doesn’t have to pay the headhunter a % for your head.
If you’re relocating to a new market headhunters are a good resource to start with, especially if you have few connections.
It’s a percentage of your salary if you’re on a contract that they handle, and you get benefits through them etc. It’s a flat fee if you’re full time permanent for the agency.
