I made the change successfully, moving in house as a senior associate, and coming back after a year as of counsel, promoted to partner a year later. It was seen as valuable business experience that helped me connect with clients and understand the issues they had and how to navigate them.
Interesting, and this is a great way to go back
I think how long you’ve been in-house is relevant. Probably harder to go back to firm the longer you’ve been away but firms will be happy to make you of counsel if you can bring work with you.
I’ve not seen it done that explicitly.
What class year are you and how long have you been in-house? Practice area?
I transitioned as an 8th year (same year I was up for partner vote). I am not going back to a firm or to a company that does not have reasonable WLB.
I know. It’s just sometimes the in house role is not have good WLB as expected
