Jesus Christ. I was out on PTO for a week and I have a ton of discovery responses due. My attorney won’t allow me to ask for an extension for our responses on any of them. I’m seriously going to be penalized for using PTO wtf?

Did you see your docket deadlines before you were out and tried to clear them?

like

Yes, I was aware of them. But I was at capacity and did not have a chance to get to the responses before I left on PTO. I assumed I would have time to do them when I returned but, surprise, there were bottlenecks on my first day back plus the responses. I just don’t understand why I can’t just ask for an extension. There’s only so many hours in the day.

like

Would this be your first request for extension? If so, I don't understand why your attorney won't allow an extension request.

like

First extension.

You have to prioritize the discovery responses and when you are asked to do something else, you have to respond that you are working on a task that is more important and you can do it after you finish your deadline.

If the other things are also high priority the person requesting needs to take it up with the attorney who assigned you the discovery responses.

You may also ask for OT. I have a huge caseload based on my area and as long as I clear the OT with my Attys I’m good to go. I sometimes do work 16 hours on a weekend just to get the work done on time

Hi fishes, my friend recently had a bitter experience with Dish Network. So her profile was shortlisted and they asked few questions over email. It did take good 2hrs to answer and she replied back. HM said we are good to go for interview and sent an invite. On the day of interview nobody turned up, neither they gave an update later. She did follow up for a couple of days but no response. Is there any reason why this happens ? Me being in HR field felt this to be a little unprofessional.

Is Canada visa initiated for anyone in TCS

Is there some specific time when visa will be initiated for Canada

Yesterday only during their press meet they told that they have honored all the offer letters last quarter...and today itself you can see so many delaying and postponing of joining cases in this group only....there must be something very wrong or messed up.

Hi Fellow Moms/Wives!❤️
Very taboo question.

Anyone else have a hubby with a very low sex drive? I initiate most of the time and it really makes me feel neglected. I have talked to him about it but I think we just have different views on how to feel connected? I think once every 2 weeks is harsh. I prefer 3x-4x a week but he says that is a lot. Am I crazy to expect of this?

How can the attorney you work for make your life easier, make it easier to do your job, make you less stressed?

My boss (atty) is so disorganized! I’ve been with him 6 months and he’s having a hard time delegating, sharing info and managing deadlines. I’ve organized the caseload to manage the deadlines. He says he wants me to help with discovery but when I offer to start on one, he says he needs to do it. (Since he might have to present as evidence) When I give him deadlines and ask for the docs he says he’ll get to it. It’s a small 1 man firm, and I’m the first assistant besides his wife. Any advice?

I’ve been a paralegal for about 30 years in private law firmS. As I get older, I feel like it’s time for a semi-career change. Either an office manager position or perhaps a corporate position where I can travel a little since my kids are grown and I’m an empty-nester. Has anyone made this type of transition? Advise welcome. I am a paralegal interested in making the jump from litigation to Worker's Compensation. I don't have recent experience in WC but recall it was a lot of form work. Any Worker's Compensation experts here that can offer an opinion (is it a heavy lift) and run me thru some of your daily activities? I am in New Jersey. Thanks!

Are there any fully remote lawfirms, ie you don't have to live in the state they have offices? I recently left a large lawfirm to go in-house which came with a huge paycut that is not going to be sustainable long term, but needed a remote position to be able to move. I'd like to keep my current job part-time but get back in a lawfirm too.

Hey, does anyone work for Jacobowitz Newman Tversky? Would love to know more about the office and culture .

So I have my bachelors in criminal justice and I just finished my paralegal certificate course today. My attorney should be making partner this year. With that being said I told her that I would complete my certificate by the summer around the time she would make partner. Should I mention to her Monday that I completed my paralegal certificate in hopes that the raise will be bigger or should I wait until June when she makes partner.thoughts?

I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.

Currently a paralegal at a small start up financial services company been there for just a little over a year. I wear “multiple hats” but more recently I’ve done a lot of PM work and some BA work. My position title is changing soon but I’m wondering how helpful that would be for wanting to go into PM work at a tech company. Anyone have any career pivot advice? Paralegals: My firm is looking for a paralegal, and I see the job posting advertising the salary as $65-$75k, with benefits. Is this a good salary for a paralegal (Greater LA area)? I’m not the decision maker, but it’s been a few weeks with very few applicants. I’m curious if there’s something hurting the firm in its search.
