Joining Google as a non-tech role. Would you get Macbook Pro 13” vs 16”? Any recs based on laptop performance/ease of use?

13” for sure. 16” is so bulky and I use external monitors anyways.

13" is more transportable. Plus I always plug in to a second monitor.

I’d rather have a bigger screen

Used 16 inch for at Google and FB. Was a little difficult to use on a plane (not that business travel is much of a thing anymore) but other than was super helpful for meetings on the go where you need to have meets on one side and an excel sheet on the other. Tried the 13 inch originally but the multitasking was miserable on it

I like my 16” even tho it’s big… the sound is good and it’s easier for working without an additional monitor.

16" is very heavy but the big screen is nice if you're in a role where that's important. Get 13" if you value portability or will be satisfied with an external monitor.

Also, the 13 inch is now the new 14 inch. I think the screen size is sufficient for multi windows and value the portability. The 16 inch, though in the 15 inch frame, just feels too large for on the go.

Anyone feel like they’ve lost their edge during covid? I used to be super focused on all my projects and care about being at the top. Now I struggle to stay focused on a daily basis and even when I take my adderall I find myself getting lazy throughout the day and spending most of it on my phone. I’m just doing the bare minimum to keep my job without getting poor reviews but not really trying to be a strong performer anymore

I don’t know why, but I struggle with a lot of the recruiting/sourcing/employer branding resources available. A lot of it is either too basic or too deep on the technical side. Any additional resources that have been useful?

Not sure where else to post this. Feeling really defeated. I was told in January that I was to get a raise and then a promotion in 6 months and now it’s July and there is no raise or promotion.

I think I am experiencing the stages of a mental breakdown. I do not feel like myself. I can fake the smile and cheer for the few meetings I have - and occasionally for friends or family in small bursts. But I feel overwhelming anxiety and depression and am becoming more prone to outbursts. I just want to quit everything and burn it all to the ground. I’m not sure what the main triggers are but am feeling lost and hopeless.
