Just curious if anyone was able to achieve this.

McKinsey & Company How likely is McKinsey to rescind an offer if there's a recession/downturn before my start date? Received an Associate offer with a start date early in the Fall. But I'm worried about the offer being rescinded due to the ongoing McK scandals/issues and a potential recession in the making (which may prompt them to freeze hiring and/or renege offers).
Has this happened to anyone before at McKinsey, offer getting rescinded due to economic/company downturn? A bit worried

I’m 100% P&T and still work. AMA.
Same
It’s possible to get! You just have to go to the doctor to be seen. We all know that in the military it’s a bad thing if you go to sick call is a bad thing. Well that culture is how people get screwed.
Pro
I’m at 0% and have no VA disability claims and feel very fortunate. I served in the Army nearly 13 years with 2 deployments and came out of it unscathed.
What always bothers me are other vets (including some of my former leadership) who have said that I should at least be claiming some sort of disability because it’s “what’s owed to me for my service.”
I firmly disagree, what do you all think?
I was Marine Arty (gunbunny) and we could only wear an earplugs in one ear so we could hear fire commands (finger used as second plug). I’ve had slightly hearing all my life since the Corps, but have never considered filing a claim. Then there are my buddies I served with who leveraged hearing loss, bad backs and kneess(of course them being overweight couldn’t cause those issues) and “ptsd” all crowing about their 80 or 100% va disability while living full lives. I feel it’s there for those who really need it. Not those looking to cheat the system.
Im 100 p&t. Mentally fucked up though. Thank God for remote
Glad to hear that desolation is treating you good. Some people take it negatively but you seem to be doing fine. Good on ya.
90%. With 80% on my initial claim.
To those who judge the welfare issue, just remember that retirement is for your service, while disability is the condition of your body and mind due to your service. You came in to service without specific issues and during your service you now have some.
Think about all the sleepless nights due to deployment anxiety that could have potentially led to long term insomnia. Think about all the jet fuel and hydraulic fluid fumes you inhaled while on a flight deck, only to now have sleep apnea. On that same vein, the enlisted racks are extremely small with limited back support. Multiple deployments take a toll on people.
You can even think about it from this perspective. Think about what you will likely be like at 70 years old and what you could have been without service. Without drinking contaminated water from water buffalos or ship brominated tanks. Without chromium in it (San Diego and Hawaii have extremely poor water quality)
That bad fall from a jump may not feel bad now, but what about in the future. A 0% disability documents it at the very least.
Do what you must and judge how you wish, but service affects everyone differently.
There are malingerers and those who abuse the system, but there are a hell of a lot more people who sucked it up (pilots, infantry, etc.), never talked to anyone and now have major issues because of it, and can’t get disability because they don’t have a military nexus.
Preach
Yes. And I have many friends who are also. It’s essentially supplemental income, and also state provided tax breaks in other capacities (house, cars, etc). I got out at 29 and at 36 have been told I have the body of a 50 year old by multiple doctors. Not to mention the PTSD. Happy to talk about it.
i'm 100% and i can still work. it's up to each individual person.
my body isn't what it was, but my mind is there and i still function and thrive as an SDVOB, completely running day to day business.
therapeutic programs our essential, started as an E-1, medically retired as an O-4.
being disabled isn't an issue, learning how to be disabled and functional is key.
after 13 operations on both knees, both shoulders, my back, my neck, i'm beyond VA math and 100% p&t. does that make me undeserving? i can argue that i'm a better leader now than i was before my injuries, because of my injuries and never give up attitude.
as long as you have a rating from the VA, you too can start a SDVOB, especially in consulting, businesses like that.
i also help other veterans for free, i call it business karma
start an LLC, then use your secretary of state program for veterans, then use sba programs.

The sad part about 100% disability is it's meant to apply to people unable to work. The amount you get at 100% doesn't cover what I and many others could make employed. But if you are still able to work, should you really be at a 100% rating? Seems to me like the people at 100% are either underpaid or overpaid, none appropriately paid.
EY2 and IU.
Been out 12yrs with initial rating of 90%. Realizing that I probably should have been rated higher. Any suggestions for a VSO/other org to help review my situation?
WWP
Well if you all served overseas you should definitely be back in the VA to get rated for burn oit exposure stuff.
EVEN if you get 0%!!
The VA doing presumptive conditions is basically letting you know you are going to be at a high risk of cancer.
Hooray PACT Act
If you have something to claim, just claim it and quit being so damn proud. I spent a decade in the infantry with years of deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq, I had to fight for my 90% and I’m still fighting to get my 100%.
However the C&P exams are a damn joke. One 45min point in time exam that is supposed to cover your entire history, it just doesn’t work. Especially when they don’t even listen to you. In my PTSD exam to increase my 50%, I told my examiner the flat out truth like how I got a mental health no-go during SRP before my second deployment to Baghdad, I had to miss a few months of my tour because of it. I told him how a switch just gets flipped when Im driving down the road. How I often think about driving my car into the person who cut me off, or through the car who doesn’t know what a free right turn is. The simple $hit that wouldn’t irritate a normal person, would cause me to just see red. My PTSD ruined my marriage, ruined who I was and turned me into the person I don’t recognize today… an EY Business Consultant.
It could be worst, people could be wearing my name on their wrist instead of the other way around. Maybe it’s the perspective that keeps me off the edge.
I think I’m just venting at this point. Have a great weekend brothers and sisters.
Venting can be a small form of therapy. I’m so sorry you’re still experiencing these things and that it was too challenging for your spouse to stick around. I can’t imagine the hell that many of you went through but know that there are those of us out in the world that will make attempts to understand, and to try to assist wherever we can. It’s the least we can do for your service.
🇺🇸
No and I’m ok with that. I like only being 10% normal.
Same. I effed up my back hardcore sitting in a freaking hmmmv for months in Afghanistan. Glad that was it.
Nah tapped at 90
Nope. It's alright. I am just at 60% which is already pretty high if you ask me.
Same. Expected 10-20% and got 70%.
I have to disagree Accenture 1, I know a lot of 100% disability who hold down second jobs, full-time second jobs.
I'm at 80% and that feels appropriate....messed up but high functioning.
C2 that’s a full size one. If you have the space/money it’s of course the better option. This is the one I have which works well for my smaller gym. Up to $475 now. Inflation is nice. If you don’t have them you’ll need some weight plates as well (I already had them for home gym). https://www.roguefitness.com/westside-scout-hyper
im at 80% but i'm still shooting for the 100%. i have migraines pending and still other claims to put in
60% but denied my lower back issues regardless of the X-rays showing major damage to the disk between S1 and L5…
it's not an achievement, but 100% p&t is an indication of service connected injuries acquired while in the military.
my medical records were 3 binders full, 3 inches thick
I snore and don’t have sleep apnea…there’s a lot more to it than that.
0%, but I think about it.
Was Navy and have tinnitus and hearing loss, but for some dumb reason I thought I shouldn't report it.
I have some pretty significant psychological issues that limit my ability to work, and while I personally believe they're service-related, I've never felt right about applying for disability.
C2 if youre having vertigo spells go be seen by a Dr. get it documented and submit a secondary claim to your ear condition. I have spells of vertigo as well and it was rated 20%.
