At both EY and PwC, Partner calls you to tell you your comp increase. It's standard protocol.
OP, I have been through this compensation call over the past few years. It's usually a one-way conversation. So, don't try to go with the mindset of a negotiation. The numbers are all usually decided and set in stone. All the best!

Last year I argued for a bigger raise and the partner was like "there's not much I can do but I'll try"... I never heard back from him. I got a 14% increase tho so I wasn't upset
