Hi Everybody,
I'm currently working as an outsource in Rapid Metro as Technical Assistant/Civil. I earned a Master degree in Water Resource Engineer after B.Tech in Civil Engineering. Due to Covid 19 I took job back in Civil sector even though I have a masters degree in WRE. It's been almost 6 months of constant applying and rejection and still I'm nowhere close to a job in my dream branch which is the Water sector.Im hopeful that through this portal I may find an entry level position in water

Sounds like the new company definitely wins from a compensation perspective, but you need to look at other aspects of the offer. PTO, healthcare, 401k, company health/risk, Good teammates, growth potential, career positioning, commute, work life balance, reasonable boss, etc.
Started at Deloitte in September 2014 straight out of college as BTA. I'm in AIM - AAE specializing in Tableau. My experience at Deloitte hasn't been that great don't do any real analytics despite my title being advanced analytics Consultant lol. Offer is for a start up that's been aquired by big company but still operates as a start up. I'll be doing real analytics to help the company sell more and grow. I make around 85k now and up for promotion to senior consultant. Their offering me 110k + 10k sign on bonus. Their bonus program is really good tho. If the company meets all goals you are eligible for 100% of base in bonus. Last year they hit 50% of goals and everyone got 50% bonus, this year they hit 60%. So next year I could get around 50% of bonus in base or get 0 %. It's a risk. I'm thinking about negotiating up to 120k base and think they might give me it. Not sure if it's the right move career wise but I feel like I'm not learning as much as I should be at Deloitte
Sounds like you’ve already made your choice. Good luck!
Lol dude you know consulting sucks, go accept that offer asap
Go for it
They went up to 115k base 15k signing can't do 120k base for politics basically
Join one before it gets bought ;)
Thanks guys appreciate the feedback! You guys read me like a book haha
Sounds like a legit opportunity comp wise, but what else do you know about the role?
Yo refer me to the start up, m also advanced analytics consultant and looking for a way out
PTO is 20 days, Deloitte is 25 but let's be real I've had so many expired cuz of utilization worries. Work life seems like every1 works 830-5ish. Deloitte 401k is shit so this one is better but not amazing. Health benefits tbh idk I'm 25 so not paying until next year so need to look into that. I'll be working with product managers and marketing managers and helping drive the Analytics strategy but also executing on it as well. I'll be doing A/B testing on their marketing efforts for example. This company is aquired by a fortune 500 company that's been around for 100s of years but not as "sexy" as Deloitte but will atleast bring stability
Everyone seems smart and creative and hard working. Deloitte ppl are smart but not creative due to nature of our work. It's all contract based. + I'm more on technical projects now so I work with a lot of people who are smart technically but not as strong in soft skills and strategic thinking
Honestly sounds like a good opportunity BUT you need to ask yourself what your goals are. That should answer the question for you..if ur not trying to make partner at deloitte and would gain more experience at the startup seems like a good option
Congrats OP! Sounds like a great deal and something that I would also love to be doing!
You seem to have made up your mind. Just a couple of thoughts
1) if you’re moving to Silicon Valley from somewhere else, be mindful of the cost of living
2) sometimes high comp is associated with lack of job security. The role itself seems pretty solid, but with a start up you never really know. Still this offer, for a startup, seems risk averse.
Go for it and do great work that you’re passionate about, not what we call analytics..
OP it sounds like a great opportunity. It also sounds like you just need someone to agree with you that it’s a great opportunity because change is difficult and frightening. Good luck, you’ll be just fine outside of big 4
Interesting. I’m at EY doing what’s supposed to be analytics heavy work and in reality it’s some pretty basic stuff that we throw into tableau. More and more I keep hearing that this is a common theme among big 4
Join the real Data science team at Deloitte. They are doing all predictive modeling shit. AIM doesn't do the advanced stuff
@D3 which team is that
Data Science within Human Capital does not do any human capital work. Not sure why they place them in Human Capital. They do high level data science, lots of PhD's and Advanced Degrees in the practice.
I wanted 120/10. I'm leaning towards taking it
