Many PIPs often come with the offer to take severance rather than go through it. The fact that you’re on a PIP will never show up on a background check. For that reason I’d ride it out and see if they offer you anything.
You can even propose it yourself. If you have another job lined up you can ask current employer if there’s an option to resign now and accept severance. Happens all the time. Probably cheaper than keeping you in through the PIP period plus they can start the replacement process sooner. Worst they can say is no and you’re exactly where you are now.
This is the way. See if there is more juice to squeeze since they’re squeezing you ;)

No, it doesn’t. Companies, generally, do not speak about performance because it puts them at risk for a whole host of lawsuits.

Wait for H1B to be processed before making any moves. Then hand in your resignation. You won't get any bonus.
PIP doesn’t affect anything at future employer. Future employer will only do basic employment check with current employer I.e title, duration that’s it.. there will be even a question “do you want us to contact current employer” you can answer that as no… give reference from close circle of details are needed on background check..
As far as back drug test and legal background check - they search for local court documents for traffic, misdemeanours and felony.. and I don’t think PIP counts towards any of them 😀 so chill have fun..
Wait for the H1B transfer approval before handing in your notice - technically you can switch once you have the transfer receipt notice in hand. But to be safe wait for the approval. Then collect severance and yolo the hell out of there.
