Just landed my first job as a junior account manager, and I’m excited but also a little overwhelmed. I’ll be supporting a team that manages around 15 accounts, and I really want to make a strong impression early on. Any advice on how to stand out while learning the ropes? Also, how do you efficiently manage your workload without getting buried in client requests and internal tasks? I’d love to hear what helped you succeed when you were just starting out—whether it’s time management tips, communication strategies, or lessons you learned the hard way!

Are you tasked with supporting 15 accounts? That sounds like a lot for a new hire.

15 accounts isn’t normal even for seasoned managers

Set up coffee chats with those on your team, especially those more veteran colleagues. Learn about their expertise. Ask them how they think someone in your role will thrive.

Advice on applying to PM jobs with 1yr APM experience?

I’ve been working as an APM at my current company for 1yr, and have basically been doing the work of a full blown PM the entire time. I’ve lead several features from start to finish and made sure to mention in my resume that I have been doing everything a regular PM does. Has anyone ever hired an APM for a PM role or done it yourself? Any tips? Advice?
