Doesn't matter how strong your case is. You can tell a story so powerful that your partner might start crying and sobbing. NOTHING will change. Not until next year! They tell you compensation once everything is final.
Also, it's NOT a discussion. It's a call. They call and tell you your new number. That's it.
Yup, chances are 0%
Op you think you are actually presenting your case, how cute, remember to bring your knee pads.
To make you feel good that they listened
There is no negotiation, the call is pointless.
Are you serious? Then what's the point of this whole discussion?
That doesn't make sense. Do they think we can go to TOD and read it ourselves? This is so disappointing.
It's an opportunity for them to tell you that you're a piece of shit for busting your ass. And in a way cover their asses by giving you a chance to "fairly understand" your compensation.
OP, I would like to apologize for the unnecessary douchebaggery on this thread. I went through the same struggle you are. I came from industry, and I've never seen a company decide salary without you being a part of that conversation/decision. I have talked, brainstormed, level-set, asked questions, etc for months, to understand exactly how it works. To make a long story short, we have no say/negotiation in our salary. Even if you voice your expectations during your Year End Review, it doesn't effect their decision. The only thing you can do, is talk to your Industry Leader who controls the allocation. Even then, it's just a consideration for next year.
We get 15% raises in consulting versus industry. I feel like that's generous enough.
can't
Op give update on how the call guys
Your case should have been brought up during your end of year review.
Thank you, D7. Even AIP cannot be changed?
From what I'm told, it's not typically changed. But I am always an advocate for open and honest discussion. We're all adults here, and we're all fully aware that change is possible. Someone controls this, someone has this authority, it's just a matter of having the right conversation with the right people. They make it so cryptic, pave the way with red tape, hoping you'll give up and just take what they're willing to give you.
@D5, you are absolutely right. A 15% raise is very generous, compared to most companies/industries. But depending on how low your salary is, at some point you can't ignore the problem. For example, trying to get away with paying a Senior Consultant <70k, when we're bringing in new grads at >80k. Percentage increase or not, admittedly there is a disconnect.
Where are we bringing in campus hires at $80k? Also, there are market and level adjustments factored on top of merit-based raises
