Haha he failed the assignment

Did you say “what could a candidate do” or “what could I do” because honestly if you used gender-neutral “candidate” and he responded that way I don’t see the big deal. The masculine form tends to dominate rather than saying “he or she” and as male he is more likely to say “he.” You’re making this a bigger deal than it needs to be.
SM1 - please read
The point is that women interviewers would NEVER say “he or she” in that situation. Women interviewers know what it’s like to be excluded, so they would say “the candidate” or “they.” It’s unlikely that a woman interviewer would assume the gender of the best candidate - whether male OR female, because they know it is best to leave it inclusive to all. This is why defaulting to just men, OR women, is not okay in the situation. Hope this is helpful.

He didn't understand the assignment 🎶
Did you point this out to him?
If this person was a German, I can see why. I've observed both men and women at German/european clients use "he" for any examples.
For the record, it doesn't justify it if this happened here in the US. But if it's a European person I wouldn't take it personally
If the bro culture is that obvious, thats definitely a sign for you to run!
Idk I sometimes in meetings say “you guys” and I feel like some ladies think i’m disregarding them.
