McKinsey & Company Just started working at a firm a month ago. Just received an offer from McKinsey & Company - GCI Analytics team for Data Engineer. I enjoy the laid back culture at Slalom, co-workers, and WLB. Mckinsey is offering 22k more though. With having a new child on the way and me being well off already due to having a nice rental property I'm concerned about the terrible WLB that I heard McKinsey has. Also, Idon't want to have a bad rep for leaving a company after a month. Looking for opinions?!

During my interview process I clearly stated my salary expectations of 95k-105k. They came back with an offer at 80k. One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
