I have had a career coach and found that really helpful. It helped me figure out who I am, what drives me, and to see I wasn’t getting that at the firm I was at anymore. Hence the start of my own firm where I can do things my own way. Couldn’t!5 be happier now.

Love to hear that

I did years ago. I didn’t find it helpful.

The two people I knew who were life coaches were terrible people with miserable lives.

Oh no. Do you mind elaborating how so?

Does anyone have experience working for a ALSP? How does compensation work (pay and benefits)? Are you an employee or technically an IC? Do you have billable requirements like at a firm? Hi Fishes,

l interviewed for Deloitte (India not USI) in January, and accepted an offer letter with DOJ of 25th April, later HR asked me to join on 11th April for which I agreed. Now I haven't received the revised offer letter or any links other than BGV and Pre-Hire form from Deloitte and now the HR is not even picking my calls or responding to emails.

Looking for tips from seniors. I'm at A1 level at a litigation firm, stepping out of the deer-in-headlights phase. With the Partners assigning work to me in teams of 2-3, there's potential for growth. But with the sheer amount and depth of work on each case it's challenging to take on a more "adult" role. I often find myself in a more assistive role, either by my choice or the Partners'.
How can I accelerate my progress? What are Partners' and Seniors' expectations from year one associates?

I have an interview for an in house position (only attorney) at a small non-profit focused on conservation easements. I am a transactional associate at a mid sized law firm. The prospect of freedom from the billable hour and contributing to meaningful work are the draws. The cons are that while the salary at the non-profit would only be slightly less than what I am making now, pay increases and opportunities for advancement will be much less than where I am now. Thoughts on making the shift?
