Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is such an inspiration✨ Not only does she have a “Big Name” (that’s what I call non-European sounding names 😄), but I love that she’s soft-spoken like me. 😊 All my life, I’ve been told that I need to be tougher or make my voice deeper. Well Justice Jackson is proof that representation matters because she makes me feel like my voice in the legal community matters.

I couldn't agree more. I caught her interview with Norah O'Donnell on Sunday and was very impressed. I knew about her from the confirmation hearings, of course, but seeing her in a more relaxed setting was fascinating. I wish President Obama had nominated her to SCOTUS in 2020 instead of Merrick Garland. That all would have played out very differently and I believe it would have changed so much.

Absolutely! If only she had been on the court sooner. Our lives would be so different
That's interesting (I'm not a BW), but I'm shocked to hear you've been told to deepen your voice.
Maybe due to litigation? Weird request either way

Yes, when I did criminal defense, I was told that I have a soft voice that sounds like a lullaby and puts people to sleep. It hurt at the time, but I’ve been learning how to use inflections and facial expressions. I have accepted that my voice is my voice. For whatever reason, God gave me a soft voice, and instead of staying mad, I’m learning how to use my voice to my advantage.
Agreed! I’m excited to read her memoir!

You’re right. It was released on 9/3. People have already posted their reviews. I’m going to do my best to avoid reading the reviews. I don’t want any spoilers or biases.
