What's the salary range for a director at the Gilead Sciences foundation? There is a position perfect for me, but I don't want to throw my hat in the ring if starting salary isn't $180-190k. Also, any thoughts on the stability of their philanthropic commitment? There's talk of a recession; I don't want to go private to be cute a few months later.

Cutoff was April 30th. Idk if youâll even go through year end in October.
Correct. Hopefully you worked in some sort of signing bonus to make up for it.
Assuming you are a new hire and not an experienced hire. A few things to consider:
- bonus is usually based on performance year not fiscal year; per KPMG1 that cuttoff was 4/30.
- if the cuttoff was 4/30 then you will be missing 1.5 months of the next cycle as well so not only will you first get a bonus next year it will likely also be prorated.
- generally an experienced hire would negotiate a sign on bonus if joining towards the end of the performance cycle or in the beginning of the next one (they likely have up the past year bonus to make the move)
- just based on the way you wrote the question it seems like you are looking at the bonus as part of your comp; and while it most definitely it (and can be significant as you move up); try and stay away from relying on or expecting a bonus.
đ thank you!!
No. Talking from experience.... I joined a few years ago in January, pre covid our practice was doing amazing. $0bonus $0 raise, justification provided by the Partner was that I joined too late. Even though recruiter said Iâll get a raise and bonus at year end.
If you joined in January you were definitely bonus and raise eligible. I joined in April a few years ago and got a raise at year end.
